Gordon Appleby

Gordon Appleby & Co was registered as a business name on 15 March 1993 and commenced practising in May 1993 with a number of clients that followed me from BDO Nelson Parkhill. I had been a partner at BDO for five years. Prior to BDO that I did all my training at Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co (Now KPMG). Originally I operated my practice from Yeronga but moved to Red Hill in January 1998.

   
Leona Bennett

Leona Bennett

Leona has had over 18 years experience working with small to medium sized businesses. She commenced her career in Sydney in 1984 working part time whilst completing her studies. She then joined Price Waterhouse in 1986 working in the small business services section, where she qualified with the Institute of Chartered Accountants before heading overseas for 6 years. During her time in Canada she worked for Ernst and Young, and then spent 4 years working as a consultant in her own business. After returning to Australia in 1994, she worked in a professional practice in Sydney before moving to Brisbane and joining my firm in 1998 part time, as my manager.

She has extensive experience in a variety of different industries and has an excellent understanding of the day to day operations and complexities of running a small business, which enables her to provide practical and useful advice to our clients. She has considerable depth of experience in the complexities of business and personal tax. In addition, she has been through the implementation of GST in both Canada and Australia.

   
Rachel Mika

Rachel Mika

Rachel joined the practice in 1995 initially as our receptionist and secretary. Since then, she has progressed to a book keeper role, maintaining the financial records for the practice and assisting clients with their book keeping queries. She has considerable MYOB experience.

She also has a large role in the general administration of the practice and has become responsible for maintenance of our computer system and predominantly our accounting and taxation software. Rachel is also involved in the preparation of clients' Business Activity Statements, Income Tax Returns and Accounts.

   
Melissa Hills

Melissa Hills

Melissa is our Receptionist/Secretary.

Melissa joined the team at GACO in 1999. Her role is to meet and greet clients and provided administration support to the Accountants as well as assisting with data input for Tax Return preparation, client's investment registers and final compilation of client's financials.
